While Putin and Medvedev say “everything is fine”, everything is not fine. Russia’s economy is broken, they lost Syria and the axis of resistance is faltering. They had to move the Black Sea fleet, and Ukraine’s defense industry is now robust. Russia lost 400K soldiers in 2024. There is little prospect of a peace deal acceptable to either side.
