The Summer of Productivity Begins

Last year, we spent the summer reviewing the major works of Seth Godin.[1] This book tour covered a dozen or more of his best works and it primarily focused on marketing.

This summer, we will focus on personal productivity and time management.

Since I knew I would be writing about personal productivity, I have begun reading books and watching videos on the subject. Some of what I read is new, but most is classic time-management advice. Here are the perennial favorites:

  • Get up early
  • Exercise
  • Meditate
  • Focus on what is important
  • Eat well
  • Batch tasks
  • Do not multitask
  • Get 8 hours of quality sleep.
  • Outsource and delegate
  • Keep a to-do list
  • Do your most important task first.

As I approach this segment, I am well aware that the biggest issues relating to time management and productivity are not issues of ignorance (not knowing), but of abstinence (not doing). So, as we move forward, I will only talk about advice that I personally tested or concepts that were so game-changing that they altered my behavior in some way.

But this week, I would like you to build your list of time-management and personal productivity hacks. Talk about them in your group. Create the list and send them to me. I will highlight the group with the largest list or the best concepts.

What About You?

How are you most productive? What are your best tips for productivity and time management?
